I Was Here
We all bring something unique and valuable to the world. We all share in the hope that we make a difference while we are here – that our life matters – and when we’re gone, our loss will be felt.
But how do we celebrate our beautifully unique lives? How will we be remembered? What’s the secret to creating an authentic, memorable farewell? And why is engaging with our mortality the single most important factor in achieving a happy, contented life?
I’m Nicola Dela-Croix – writer, funeral celebrant and self-professed mortality awareness champion! I hope to answer all those uplifting questions, using my extraordinary, extensive experiences of creating and leading almost 2,000 ‘celebration of life’ funeral ceremonies.
Being a Funeral Celebrant, helping grieving families, and coming face to face with death on a daily basis, is not for the faint-hearted. But I can say, without hesitation, it has changed my life in the most remarkable, positive ways. And by sharing my experiences of working alongside loss, celebrating lives, and engaging with mortality, I truly believe I could enhance your life in a positive, optimistic way too!
By opening up a much-needed conversation about mortality, as well as creating a set of inspirational, life-affirming guides and workshops, my mission is to:
• Take away the fear of talking about death, turning it into a positive force for a happier life, and helping you be better prepared to deal with loss.
• Encourage you to appreciate your value while you are still here. To understand how much your life matters, to recognise the unique difference you make to the world and those around you, and offer creative ways to share the story of you and your colourful years on this earth.
• Show you how to express your wishes and play a part in how you’d like to be remembered when your time comes.
• Equip you with the tools and knowledge you need to create meaningful, authentic ‘celebration of life’ ceremonies for the people you love.
Everything I have to offer is heart-felt and comes from a genuine desire to create a world where death is not taboo. Where we are all able to face up to mortality with respect and appreciation for what it can teach us. As well as a practical understanding of how to face loss and celebrate life in meaningful, creative ways .
